About SOAAG

The Ship Owners and Agents Association of Ghana (SOAAG) is a pivotal organization representing shipping lines and agents operating within Ghana’s maritime sector. Established in April 1993, SOAAG was formed to unify the previously fragmented shipping industry, aiming to foster a coordinated and efficient maritime environment conducive to business growth and peaceful coexistence among stakeholders.

Over the past three decades, SOAAG has been instrumental in shaping Ghana’s maritime landscape. With a membership comprising 16 active shipping companies, the association has significantly contributed to the nation’s international trade, employment generation, and revenue mobilization through tax contributions.

SOAAG’s governance structure includes an Executive Council consisting of a President, Vice President, Executive Secretary, and co-opted company directors. The association operates a permanent secretariat located in Tema, which oversees its administrative functions.

Committed to transparency and stakeholder engagement, SOAAG actively collaborates with government agencies, port authorities, and other industry players to address challenges and enhance the efficiency of Ghana’s shipping industry. Through dialogue and negotiation, the association strives to resolve industry issues and promote a conducive environment for maritime operations.

As a unified voice for shipping lines and agents, SOAAG continues to advocate for policies and practices that bolster Ghana’s position as a competitive maritime hub in West Africa
